A master transportation plan for downtown San Antonio includes a three mile new streetcar system. VIA is funding the project through federal grants and money from Bexar County and San Antonio. Those opposed to the project say the streetcar proposal is just light rail by another name and San Antonio voters rejected that system 11 years ago. Opponents say they will consider legal action.
